Opening My Eyes to the Needs in Our Community

On December 9th 2021, I had my eyes opened by so many programs and organizations that help with homeless, disabled, and elderly citizens of Highlands County. One thing I learned about each of these organizations is that all they want is to give back to their community with nothing in return except to see the joy on so many people’s faces when they get the help they need in order to survive. When I found out how many people needed that help in order to just live another day, it really made me realize how fortunate I am that I have a roof over my head and I don’t have to worry about when I will get my next meal. Knowing that there are 5 to 6 thousand homeless people just in Highlands County made me want to grab that volunteer paper or that donation sheet so I could help give back to my community. I hope that Highlands County can move down in the scale of homelessness and move up in the amount of people who can afford to live on their own and put food on the table for their families, and hopefully I can get the opportunity to help the people that are in need in our community and see the smiles on their faces knowing that they will be saved not just by people here on Earth but by our Heavenly Father up above!
