Learning About Lake Placid Agriculture

The YLH group had the fortunate opportunity to explore and learn about the beauty of ag in Lake Placid. Being from Lake Placid and being known as a small boring town, the agriculture part of it has so much to offer. With the help of Happiness Farms, Costa Delray, and Smoak Ranch, I learned many new things about ag in Lake Placid that I was unaware of. For instance, 90% of the world’s caladiums are grown in and around Lake Placid, FL. Learning about the current situations of agriculture and how time and weather affects the whole industry is a real big eye opener for young adults as we start thinking about the future of ag. The YLH group had an amazing experience learning about Ag, and how Lake Placid isn't such a boring little town after all.
