Gaining Agriculture Knowledge

Ag Day Out was my most favorite day. We began our day at Happiness Farms learning about the different varieties of caladiums, how they are farmed, packaged, and shipped to customers. Next, we traveled to Costa Delray and learned about several different plants. Costa Delray is a very large plant supplier. They supply plants to retailers all over the nation. Our last stop was Smoak Ranch. At the ranch we participated in team building activities and we were able to see a controlled burn. We also learned about citrus from Mr. Smoak and heard information about different ag jobs from Mr. Summers. Highlands County has many people with agriculture knowledge and our class was very fortunate to have been provided with a small part of this knowledge.
