Letter from Tracee Smoak

I remember back to Mason’s salutatorian address at his high school graduation where he spoke with a deep conviction about facing the future with a positive attitude.  “…I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.” He quoted “Attitude” by Charles Swindoll and took time to make a copy for everyone in attendance.  This same memory of Mason was shared at his funeral in June 2008 and again copies of “Attitude” were distributed.

Mason’s attitude about life was apparent to all that knew him.  He believed that every day was a gift from God and he lived each one to its fullest.  He never missed the opportunity to lend a hand, make a personal connection with someone, help his industry and community, or take the time to show someone they were special.  He taught me so much about how to show love to others.

The Mason G. Smoak Foundation was created by his family and friends as a way to continue Mason’s love for life, people, and his Lord.  Our prayer is that we can reach out to others in the same way that Mason did and have an everlasting impact on their life.  Thank you for supporting our endeavor!

May all of our lives be brighter because we have been touched by the life of an incredible man.
I know that mine has!!

In Christ’s Love,
Tracee P. Smoak

Be like Mason…
I will endeavor to embrace each day, each task and especially each personal interaction with a positive, friendly, nonjudgmental, uplifting and proactive attitude.

I will strive to remember that the attitude I have, and exhibit, towards my family and friends, studies, work, play, and life in general speaks volumes to who I am and where I am ultimately going as a person.
