Singer/Songwriter Tommy Brandt Partnership

A note from Ed Smoak Jr. on this new partnership

Greetings from Nashville, TN and hello from all in my family to you and yours.  Over the last few years I’ve spent a lot of time both in Highlands County and traveling around the country while touring with Eric Church.  I continue to be humbled by the outpouring of support that’s been shown for our endeavor.  I’ve run into countless people who have  asked me how they could support Mason’s Foundation.  Many who never actually met Mason have had the chance to get to know him through his life story.  For me personally it has run the gammett from folks in Highlands County who were friends with Mason to others who only know of him.  On the musical side of things, interest and support has come from fans I’ve met all over the US and Canada, from strangers I’ve met on airplanes who’d inquired about the Foundation because they saw the logo on the hat I was wearing,  and from my longtime friend Eric Church as well as several other artists in the Country Music Industry.

Tommy Brandt is one such artist.  I’ve known Tommy for at least 20 years now.  We go back to the days before I moved to Nashville where we shared time in a band in  Highlands County.  If memory serves,  a young Mason was our roadie on more than one occasion.  Tommy, a great singer/songwriter in his own right, was cool enough to come help out and be our sound guy.  I have many memories of Tommy and our singer Roy Copeland telling me (a very young and eager electric guitar player at the time) to TURN IT DOWN!!!  After I’d moved to Nashville, Tommy wound up taking over lead vocal duties in that band and cutting his teeth in the local scene.  Jump ahead a few years when I get a phone call from Tommy about a decision he’d made to persue a career in the inspirational country music field.  We decided to make a record together.  That turned into a musical relationship born out of a homegrown friendship.  Tommy is a gifted singer/songwriter and ordained minister who has spent the better part of the last ten years touring the country spreading his down home message of grace, faith, hope, and love through music, scripture, and stories about his own life and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  In that time he has become a leader in his field winning many ICMA (Inspirational Country Music Association) awards including “Male Vocalist Of The Year” in 2004, 2006, 2007, and 2009.  He’s been voted “Entertainer Of The Year” by the Agape Fest/Fan Awards in 2006, 2007, and 2009 as well as receiving “Song Of The Year” honors that same year.  He has the unique distinction in his genre to have had his first 10 singles top the Christian Country charts.  To date I’ve had the pleasure to produce four albums with Tommy.  The latest is the just released “Nuff Said”.  It’s a record we’ve been working on for the past year and a half and in my opinion, Tommy’s best work to date.  He penned 8 of the 10 songs on the new record.  You’ll also find a Jeff Hyde/Lynn Hutton/Ryan Tyndle song called “If I Had It My Way” that’s receiving critical acclaim.  To quote Rich Miller (host of Power Source Country, a weekly nationally syndicated radio show):  “If you think you’ve heard Tommy Brandt think again!  If I Had It My Way is a no brainer for radio, great song with a lot of heart….the production is first class…..and it showcases Tommy at his very best!!!”

Here’s where things get really exciting for the Foundation and it’s supporters.

Tommy has generously decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from each sale of the new album “Nuff Said” to the Masong G. Smoak Foundation.  In addition, he is donating a dollar from every ticket sold on his “Faith, Family, and Country” tour.
