2011 Summer Scholarship

2011 Deadline is April 15

The Mason G. Smoak Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Mason G. Smoak of Highlands County. Among many things, Mason Smoak was actively involved within his school, community, Church and family as well as in his industry. Throughout his life, Mason not only exhibited his dedication through his hard work and hands-on involvement, but also by serving as a leader in many of the activities in which he participated.

As such, the Mason G. Smoak Foundation seeks to award 3 one-time scholarships of $1500 to graduating students of Lake Placid, Sebring, and Avon Park High Schools.

Applicants should exemplify the same traits as listed above as well as the potential to continue to grow and nurture those traits as they pursue their college education and careers. While academic achievement and need is considered, significant consideration is given to applicants who demonstrate involvement and leadership attributes in the following areas:

   • Community/Civic
   • Church
   • Extra Curricular Activities
   • Environmental Awareness
   • Family

Applicants must attend an accredited college or university to use these scholarship funds. Funds will be disbursed upon submission of registration documents by the college/university registrar.
