Mason was a great supporter of Habitat through both his volunteer hours as well as his finances.   Mason's Dad, Edward Smoak said at the ceremony: "This was always Mason's dream, we take no credit for it. He had a real passion for Habitat and he'd be tickled to see this."

The Mason G. Smoak Foundation awarded Habitat for Humanity a grant in 2009 for their “ReHabitat” effort- which as the name suggests, is the repair and maintenance of existing homes that were built or repaired by Habit for Humanity in and around the local community.  The grant specifically funded a project to remove a hazardous structure on the back of a Venus family’s home that was left terribly damaged by the 2004 hurricanes and to construct a wheelchair accessible ramp to accommodate the owner’s handicap.  News-Sun photo by KATARA SIMMONSHabitat for Humanity supporters, volunteers, families and friends gather Saturday morning for a groundbreaking ceremony at Mason's Ridge in Sebring.
