5K Run and Family Fun Day

5K Run & Family Fun Day

October 3, 2009
“The 1st Annual Mason G Smoak Foundation 5K Run and Family Fun Day was a huge success with more than 500 runners and fun walk participants."  Tracee Smoak, President of the Foundation and wife of the late Mason G. Smoak stated:  “It’s amazing to see the turnout like this and to be able to give back to the community that Mason loved so much.  Special thanks to the sponsors, organizers, the Town of Lake Placid and the many volunteers who made this event possible.”

The event was a very family friendly event with dozens of activities for kids to enjoy such as bounce houses, face painting and dunk tank.  Also, the food and refreshments for the event were a deal and allowed a family to come enjoy a day of fun for very little money.  The funds raised from the event will be used to support scholarships for young people in Highland’s County and other causes in the community.  Stay tuned for next year when the 2nd Annual event will be bigger and better.
